broke racing team collectively fails at flat kart friday
Flat Kart Friday, Millbridge Speedway
Season Finale, October 13, 2017
Started: Shitty
Finished: Terribly
We'll admit it, after we won the championship in DNQ our amount of fucks to give were pretty low, and we may have partied a little bit. Altogether that led to Friday being a clusterfuck of unpreparedness as we got our karts swapped over to the different engine and weight packages. The 69 kart ran well, but the 420 guys couldn't get their shit together and figure out a really simple fix to get the motor running above 4500 rpm. After they figured out the incredibly obvious and easy fix (we suck) for the B-main, the 420 finished 2nd with Morsillo. Riendeau had already qualified straight to the a-main in both light and heavy, so he got to stand around and make fun of Morsillo. In the Light feature, Riendeau went backwards as he was a good 25 lbs heavy, but Morsillo had a fast kart with a lot of shitty slow karts in front of him. So he just basically ran into everyone and everything, ending up 7th from 14th.
In the Heavy feature, it started to rain during and before the feature, so there wasn't much passing. Morsillo nailed the wall in the 420 and packed the wheels full of mud causing a massive vibration. (I swear it shook the kart, I'm not usually a bitch about that stuff.) Riendeau had a strong top ten run going before his brake pedal fell off under the final yellow. He pulled off the track and the day was done.
Either way, we had a good time even if we did suck.
Morsillo somehow stole the DNQ Busch Series championship

Busch Series Season Finale, October 11, 2017
Start: 3rd
Finish: 3rd
Following his strong run at the fair (and we use the term "strong" lightly here), Morsillo became the underdog in the championship chase. So to give himself a damn good shot, he teamed up with Hammer Karts and purchased a new kart. Basically just threw a slider on the field. When we showed up, we were top 3 every time we hit the track. The kart was incredible, and after some first lap contact that put the 420 back to 5th, Morsillo got back to third by halfway. That put him one spot ahead of the next Chase contender in the 51, which was good enough to win the championship!
Riendeau makes DNQ debut for broke racing in the 69 kart
DNQ Series, Millbridge Speedway
Busch Series Season Finale, October 11, 2017
Start: 10th
Finish: 11th
Having been out of a ride competitive ride since 2007, a year in which he dominated a division that no longer exists, at a track that is now closed, Riendeau came into the final DNQ race of the season without a goddamn clue as to how all this shit works. Clearly, that made him a perfect candidate for the third broke racing team entry, the newly minted golden 69er. He exceeded expectations by qualifying top ten, thereby skipping the B-main race and qualifying straight into the big show. The kart seemed pretty good, and with the Hammer Kart tires he maintained well during the feature, only stepping on his dick a handful of times.
steve really should've finished higher at the fair
DNQ Series, Iredell County Fairgrounds
Busch Series Race 9, September 4th, 2017
Start: 2nd
Finish: 7th
tied my best start of the year, but usually if I start up front, I wreck, so that was worrying. the good part is we had a pretty stout kart, but the team owner (also me) set team orders before the race to not tear all my shit up. so really, I just kind of drove defensively so I wouldn't have to fix too much before the $500 to win race the next day. which got rained out.
bummer.
